Come Again in Camiguin Island

It is my fourth visit in Camiguin Island and still has its charms.

Camiguin Island has a lot in store for you. It has combination of rich history and nature adventure. It has been know as a Volcanic Island that comprises as one province. Their history is struck by the eruption of Mt. Hibok-hibok, an active volcano in the heart of the island. The incident provoke the sunken of a portion of the island which incidentally a cemetery. The island also has old church ruin and old ancestral houses scattered all over the island.

Nature abound in the island. From a beautiful lagoon, white beach sand bar, water fall, hot and cold springs as well as a marine sanctuary. God has blessed this island for it has abundance nature and people.

Going to Camiguin Island, from Cagayan de Oro City you may ride a bus on route to Balingoan for a ferry-boat ride to the island. Bus drive is ETA 2 hours while ferry is estimated to be one hour. Fast Sea craft is also available at the Cagayan de Oro port.

Going around the island is a must. You may rent cars or motorcycles that are easy available at the port once you disembark your vessel. Just be careful for those people who charge expensive rents. You may need to go around first and look for a cheaper one.

Hotels and resorts are also available all over the island. You may even stay overnight in some of their famous tourist spots wherein they provide you overnight accommodation.

Camiguin Highland Resort is best place to stay in the island. Has an outdoor pool, garden, informal dens, gift shop, and game areas as well as free wifi in public areas within the hotel. Spacious and clean, service is also good. The resort is true to its name, it is located a bit far from the main highway.

  1. Question: Is the illustration of a church shown on this page that of the ruins of Bonbon, Catarman?
